Unfortunately, I could not sit in on the Hit Back’s session with us back in January 2011. If I remember correctly, I overscheduled myself yet again, and was stuck upstairs finishing homework on my laptop. The cool mood of the band’s effortless tunes gently permeated the coach house, and reached me all the way upstairs, two flights up. They played their set quickly, and before I knew it, I was back downstairs thanking them for coming by and helping them break down/load-out. Despite not watching the session take place, I was able to scope their setup and listen in on the sound check. My favorite part about the Hit Back’s instrumentation, other than the fact that whatever they use creates an expansive live pop sound way beyond what most duos I've seen are capable of, is completely random. Seth uses a perfectly tuned snare drum in lieu of a rack tom, and I really love that.
