Like Pioneers describes themselves as "friends re-introducing themselves to the idea of making music together" which is a pretty excellent, if initially cryptic description of what they do. And it makes a lot of sense when you hear and see them at work during their session. As a group, each member has an amount of autonomy that others might find difficult to integrate, but here it allows each member to put the most talent forward with each song they play. This makes for a lot of instrument-swapping, but they find a good balance between variety and consistency that brings a real freshness to everything they play. It's clear from their sound that they're excited about the music they make and have a lot of fun doing it. What more would you want from friends making music together?
