In September 2009, I met with Shawn Campbell over coffee to discuss ideas about how CHS and CHIRP could collaborate. She expressed interest in working together, and also mentioned how there are many wonderful Chicago bands that devote their time and energy to support causes that they like. In fact, she mentioned how Chicago mainstays Canasta had performed at a big CHIRP benefit back in August 2007, and that she thought they might like to record for Coach House Sounds. Looking back it seems like not much time as passed at all. However, when Shawn and I spoke, our site had just gone live and we had only recorded about fifteen sessions. Now, almost 75 sessions later, CHIRP and CHS are proud to present an energetic set of five dynamic songs by Chicago’s favorite sextet…
