Jorge Ledzema, who serves as producer, guitarist and cheerfully stoic leader of Allá, led his brother Angel and friends Lupe and Otto through a marvelously taut set in the Coach House this past April. Things were a bit hairy around the basement that day, with Doug and Neal arriving a bit past schedule due to a massive holdup on the Red Line… Doug pulled it together upon his arrival and got the band up and running without much of a hitch. Thankfully, the folks in Allá are exceptionally kind and patient, and killed their set despite the time constraints… The cymbal splashes, heavy bottom, shimmery guitars, and dizzy vocals penetrated the windows and hopefully served as a woozy soundtrack for my friendly neighbor, Richard, who was starting to plant his springtime flowers that afternoon.
